Ask a group of people what they think about pink eyeshadow and the responses will most likely be polarising. Some love it. Others think it’s a recipe for disaster. If you find yourself in the latter group, this look that we’re about to discuss could make you rethink your stance. Here, the makeup artist has paired a light wash of pink eyeshadow with juicy, cherry lips, and the dewy skin kept the makeup looking clean and modern. If you’re trying this at home, remember that there is a spectrum of rosy shades you can play with. A bright fuchsia may intimidate you, but a muted blush-toned eye may be up your street. Or perhaps a shimmery rose gold? Take your pick. Ready to try the full look on yourself? Here’s a step-by-step guide.

Step #1:

Begin by prepping the skin with a nourishing moisturiser like the Dr Barbara Sturm Face Cream. To keep excess shine at bay, apply a mattifying primer like the Smashbox Photo Finish Oil & Shine Control Primer along the T-zone. Then, apply an illuminating cream like the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter on the cheeks, along the periphery of your face and any other areas that don’t need to be matte.

Step #2:

Swipe a creamy foundation like the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick on areas of the face that require the most coverage and use a brush to buff it into the skin and spread the product across the face. Use concealer under the eyes and to cover any spots or scars you may have. Set the makeup using a finely milled powder like the Butter London Lumimatte Blurring Finishing & Setting Powder.

Step #3:

For the eyes, find a pink-toned cream eyeshadow like the Shiseido Kajal InkArtist in Rose Pagoda. Use your fingertip to pat the product on your eyelids for a sheer wash. Add a hint of the shade along the lower lash line as well. Then, for some subtle definition, use a pink or plum pencil liner to dot along your top and bottom lash lines (as close to the roots of your lashes as possible). Before it dries, smudge the colour with a small blending brush.

Step #4:

Line your lids with a pencil liner in a dark brown shade like the Kiko Milano Intense Colour Long Lasting Eyeliner in Pearly Brown. With a small brush, gently smudge the liner to soften its harsh edge. Then, curl the lashes and apply two coats of a lengthening mascara like the bareMinerals Strength & Length Serum-Infused Mascara.

Step #5:

Use an eyebrow pencil to fill any gaps and sparse areas in the brows and define their shape. Then, comb through with a brow gel like the M.A.C Eye Brows Big Boost Fibre Gel in a shade that suits you to set them.

Step #6:

Swipe a pink cream blush like the Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Stick in Petal on the apples of your cheeks, blending upwards. Follow it up with a cream highlighter on top, melting the creams into your skin with the warmth of your fingers.

Step #7:

Paint your lips with a creamy lipstick to match on the lips, to complete the look, like the Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss in Malibu.

Step #8:

If you're worried about smudging, it's always a good idea to finish off with a setting spray like the M.A.C Prep+Prime. It's a sure-fire way to keep your ensemble in place sans worry.
