Crime, faith, and music coincide in the lives of three Sao Paulo pals in Sintonia, which returns to Netflix for a third season. It opens with DJ Doni (Jottape) truly feeling himself. Now sporting a frosted blond ‘do and decked out in hot pink Supreme gear, Doni’s celebrating the success of his Brazilian funk sound in the clubs of Paris. While Doni does it up a world away from the favelas of Sao Paulo, Rita (Bruna Mascarenhas) is standing before her church as one of their promoted candidates for city council. She pledges to represent the interests of her pastors and fellow believers, those of the city’s often marginalised peripheral communities, and to do God’s will. As for Nando (Christian Malherios), the third member of this friend group that’s stayed close even as their paths have diverged, the criminal enterprise in which he’s taken a lead role is thriving, with consequences for snitches. Nando issues a death warrant to an underling, then arrives at the hospital, armed security detail in tow, for the birth of his second child with Scheyla (Julia Yamaguchi), a boy named Enzo. Rita and Doni share a congratulatory three-way FaceTime call with their old friend. As Doni arrives back in Sao Paulo and reconnects with his girlfriend Lucrecia (Martha Meola) – budding politician Rita ramps up her social media presence. Heer campaign begins in Vila Aurea, the favela village she’s always been proud to call home.
