We love a Netflix thriller, and the platform’s upcoming Mila Kunis-led film - Luckiest Girl Alive - has already got us hooked. Based on the novel by Jessica Knoll (and produced by Reese Witherspoon, no less!), the film focuses on Ani FaNelli, a New Yorker with the seemingly perfect life who's actually hiding a dark secret. Luckiest Girl Alive centers on Ani FaNelli, a sharp-tongued New Yorker who appears to have it all: a sought-after position at a glossy magazine, a killer wardrobe, and a dream Nantucket wedding on the horizon.
But when the director of a crime documentary invites her to tell her side of the shocking incident that took place when she was a teenager at the prestigious Brentley School, Ani is forced to confront a dark truth that threatens to unravel her meticulously crafted life.
It is a high-gloss docusoap that follows some of the movers and shakers in the UAE’s glitziest metropolis. Premiering on October 27th, the series offers behind-the-scenes access to the work-hard, play-hard lives of 10 strivers who are living the dream in Dubai, making their names in fields that range from real estate, finance and entertainment to social media stardom. The cast features not only high-flyers from the region’s multinational Arabic cultures in the UAE, Lebanon, Kuwait and Iraq, but also ambitious expats from countries such as India or Australia who have come to Dubai to forge their fortunes.
