Yaara Ve, featuring Sami Khan, Faizan Khawaja, and Aleeze Nasser in pivotal roles, had the potential to be an engaging love story but it badly fails in enticing viewers due to a muddled screenplay, shoddy direction, and below-average performances.

Let’s start with the story first: it is about two perfectionists, Sania(Aleeze Nasser) and Armaan(Faizan Khawaja) working together in an architecture firm. Armaan has special feelings for Sania but she never reciprocates him. Their office is planning to make a new resort in Thailand. For that Sania and Armaan are sent on a mission to do the recce of the land.

In Thailand, Sania meets Sameer (Sami Khan), who has a history of failed love life. Sameer’s dream is to open a restaurant and Sania is the main hurdle in his way. The two keep meeting in several clichéd situations and just when Sania leaves Thailand Sameer realizes that he loves her. Sania also meets a strange man, Kabir (Jawaid Sheikh) in Thailand – and this meeting takes the plot further.

The love triangle is a safe genre to play around – and if treated well it can do wonders. Sadly, the same is not the case here. The muddled screenplay and shoddy direction resulted in a half-baked product that fails to entice viewers.

The film has been written and directed in a very amateurish way. It says that the first fifteen minutes of the movie are very crucial in grabbing the viewer’s attention. However, while watching Yaara Vey we were just waiting for the story to built-up and it never happened. Perhaps, the director was aware of the muddled screenplay so he added chapters (such as Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Badaltey Mausam, or Faisle ki Ghadi) to describe the situations in the movie.

The characters lacked depth and failed to develop any connection with the viewers. The pairing between Sami and Aleeze was just off. Faizan Khawaja almost played a cameo. The guy hardly got any screen time. He was needed just to establish that it was a love triangle – but in reality, it wasn’t. There were no candid moments, romantic gazes, or dreamy situations in the movie. Even there wasn’t any bad man creating hurdles in the love story.

We didn’t get why Sami get his hair dyed for the movie – it looked creepy and badly tore the image in our minds that existed for years. Aleeze looked aged (as expected). Javed Sheikh and Marina Khan were wasted in a story that had no value.

I would like to mention a couple of scenes here that gave you an idea of how badly the script was treated. There was a scene where all three protagonists had to share the screen – perhaps the director wasn’t comfortable taking all three in one frame so he purposely let one person leave the screen while the other two are talking. When Sami and Aleeze had dialogues, Faizan left the screen pretending he had an important call to make. When Faizan and Aleeze were having a conversation, Sami moved out for no reason. What’s the point of doing it, dude?

That jungle chase scene was also uncalled – I didn’t get why it was crucial to the plot. Also it was so abruptly shot that a 4-year-old kid would do a better job recording it. The lighting was poor, the camera was shaking, we got to see nothing.

The writer wanted to add Indo-Pak element to the plot but it didn't established since the inception. In fact, the viewers got confused when they got to know about it just before the climax. Earlier, we were preceiving it a love triangle.

The music was average – it was out of place and inserted superfluously. The climax was prolonged, just to add more drama through the soundtrack.

To conclude, the film is a complete mess. Sami and Faizan have done good work on television. They need to make more prudent choices when it comes to work and shouldn’t sign any project for the charm of cinema.
