A 20-person team from the Zarqa Civil Defence successfully removed a woman in her thirties, weighing around 400 kilogrammes (880 pounds), from her residence in Zarqa, Jordan, during an unprecedented rescue operation that took place in Jordan. Due to her obesity, which prohibited her from leaving her flat and leading a regular life, the woman had spent 16 hard years imprisoned to her home. The woman's apartment was on the second level of a building, which presented the rescue crew with logistical difficulties. Nevertheless, the Zarqa Civil Defence crew was able to move the woman from her house to an Amman hospital in a careful and secure manner. She will now receive much-needed treatment for her weight-related issues, marking the beginning of her journey towards a healthier life. Overwhelmed with emotion, the woman expressed her happiness at finally being able to leave her home after years of isolation and suffering caused by her obesity.
