A total of 960 crochet enthusiasts gathered in Derby, England, to practise their hobby simultaneously and set a Guinness World Record. Guinness World Records confirmed the Derby Arena event, organised by BBC Radio Derby, featured 960 people crocheting at the same time, breaking the previous record of 604 set in Australia in 2017. The event was the culmination of BBC Radio Derby's Make A Difference: Make A Blanket campaign, which encouraged crocheters across the country to knit and crochet blankets for people in need over the winter. Approximately 2,000 handmade blankets were donated to food banks and charities as a result of the campaign. Crocheters from as far away as New York participated in the record attempt.
