Krysten Ritter says Orphan Black: Echoes role was an “interesting acting challenge”

Krysten Ritter, known for her diverse roles, embraces a new challenge in AMC and BBC America's Orphan Black: Echoes, portraying Lucy. In a recent interview with Variety, Ritter delved into the complexities of playing a character devoid of memory and backstory.

"I thought this was such an interesting acting challenge," Ritter explained. "To take on a role that has no backstory, no memories. She doesn’t feel the way she is supposed to feel, she doesn’t know who she is and she is completely on the run." The series premiere sets the stage with Lucy waking up without any recollection of her identity, navigating a world where she is pursued and tracked by unknown forces.

The narrative unfolds against a backdrop of ethical dilemmas and genetic experimentation, with Lucy portrayed as a product of scientific error.

Ritter expressed her intrigue in portraying "an experiment gone wrong," navigating themes of identity and existential purpose amidst a plot that explores the consequences of genetic manipulation.
