Unveiling Pakistan’s Hidden Wealth: The Untapped Economic Power of Our Lakes
- 05 Oct - 11 Oct, 2024
The fact that life is amazing in plastic is widely known. And Barbie, the well-groomed blonde symbol, is unquestionably the woman of the moment. Since the 2022 release of the trailer for Greta Gerwig's upcoming Barbie movie, #Barbiecore has taken over the worlds of fashion, home design, and general pop culture. Yes, Barbiecore Dubai is taking over the city, and we are here to experience it. The trend is girlie, paying homage to everything kitsch, pink, and pretty. Margot Robbie-starring movie is scheduled for release on Thursday, August 31 in Dubai, thus UAE-based Barbie lovers will still have to wait a little while. But if you absolutely must have Barbie now, Dubai is the place to go. These are the places in the neighbourhood where Barbie would hang out if she took a vacation from her Dream Home and went to Dubai, from eating to shopping.
Black Flamingo
Black Flamingo is an explosion of colour and good vibes with a tropical but pink atmosphere. The furnishings are entertaining, but the music is what draws people in. DJs are playing a fantastic mix of Afro beats, hip hop, and pop music.
Bounty Beets
Dog-friendly Le Meridien's Bounty Beets is a restaurant with two locations that offers vegan and gluten-free food in addition to inventive mixed cocktails. Additionally, with photo opportunities like vintage phones and pink walls, it's the ideal location to take a pretty-in-pink Instagram picture.
Flamingo Room by tasha’s
Elegant and baby pink, Flamingo Room by tasha’s has drawn in the crowds since it opened and if Barbie was to visit Dubai, there’s no doubt she’d be one of them. If you visit, we’d highly recommend you try the cornflake chicken schnitzel with tangy roasted tomatoes and finish with the Black Forest tart, which comes adorned with gold-dusted cherries.
SAYA Brasserie
Gold and pink. That is the SAYA Brasserie's colours scheme. This adorable chain café serves breakfast, appetisers, main courses, and desserts and has locations in City Walk, Dubai Hills, Nakheel Mall, and Wasl 51. The afternoon tea tower, pancake fluff, and rose hummus are what you should order if you want to feel like a true Barbiecore fan. When it comes to birthday cakes, they also offer options featuring Barbie dolls in the middle.
EL&N
One of the original 'beautiful in pink' cafés in the city was a London export called EL&N. The DIFC restaurant serves up treats as adorable as its surroundings, including pink hot chocolates and waffles. It is an excellent place to hang out with the artificial flowers, shiny ornaments, and excellent lighting.
Secret Garden by LÉTO
Barbie would probably adore Dubai Mall's trendy restaurant Trove because it is very pinkly decorated. North and South American, pan-Asian, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern cuisines are all represented on the extensive menu.
The Trove
The Barbiecore pitstop for when you’re in the middle of a shopping binge is this garden-themed café in the Dubai Mall. The menu is created with social media in mind and is conveniently placed on Fashion Avenue (more on that later). Barbie would fit right in here with the gold flakes on the food and the liquids served in lightbulb-shaped cups.
Secret Vibe Restaurant and Bar
Barbie and the crew would gather at this licenced version of Vibe I for chic sips, promising pink food, wacky pink décor, and beautiful mixed drinks. Come here for a pink burger and a “I’d rather be in Malibu” mixed drink to channel your inner Malibu Barbie.
Barbiecore Dubai: Where Barbie would shop
Fashion Avenue
Barbie and her friends will undoubtedly visit Fashion Avenue in Dubai Mall to shop. It is not only filled with some of the most exclusive stores in the world, but it is also stylish and appealing to the eye. There are plenty great photo opportunities, including some adorable cafés and butterflies dangling from the ceiling. Even the 'Fashion Avenue' line of doll clothing from the 1990s may be remembered by die-hard fans of Barbie.
Level Shoes
Barbie would almost certainly pass the time at Level Shoes because of her collection of plastic (and easily misplaced under the sofa) shoes. The shoe emporium in the Dubai Mall carries a variety of high-end brands and has some stunning shoe displays, so even window shopping there is enjoyable.
Sand Dollar
Sand Dollar, a local Dubai retailer, has just established its first physical location and is giving real Barbiecore. The Arjan store carries more than 100 beach-related goods and even has a coffee bar inside. Barbie would probably be filling her basket here, and you can do the same since there is a wall decal that reads, "The world is my runway."
Sauce Boutique
In addition to Bab al Shams, Dubai EDITION, Four Seasons Dubai, and W Dubai - The Palm, Sauce has locations since its 2004 introduction. The curated collection, which sells a variety of brands, consists of apparel, accessories, and a modest selection of home goods. You can uncover some great treasures here, with unusual items that you won't find on your typical Cindy doll.
Barbiecore Dubai: Where Barbie would hang out
Ladies’ night at Attiko
The Shooting Star Ladies Night at Attiko is pink in hue (thanks to the lighting) and a really good deal. If Barbie is pocket savvy, she’ll be sipping free-flowing drinks for three hours between 8pm and 11pm on Tuesday night.
Mermaids of Arabia
One for Shelly (or Chelsea as she was renamed in 2011), Barbie would most definitely take her little sister to meet mermaids at Mermaids of Arabia. A magical experience, you can have a mermaid makeover and meet mermaids swimming in a tank here.
Roll DXB
In her roller Barbie get-up, Barbie would fit right in at Roll DXB. The ’80s-styled roller skate arena hosts roller disco nights and ladies’ nights. Plus, much like the OG roller Barbie that came out in 1980, the skates you hire here are serious retro vibes.
The British Salon
With Barbie’s hair never a strand out of place (unless you decided to hack at it with the scissors) we’re sure she’d be hitting up a salon while in Dubai. And seeing as The British Salon in JLT not only specialises in blonde hair but is Dream House style pink, it would probably be this one.
