Embracing Seasonal Change
- 05 Oct - 11 Oct, 2024
She has made an identity for herself in a relatively short amount of time, and that’s saying a lot considering the sea of social media influencers out there. Tamkenat Mansoor’s content sets her apart from the rest; her warm smile and soothing voice combined with her impeccable comic timing make her videos even more hilarious. Lately, she has also started churning out content targeting taboo subjects of our society albeit in a playful and sarcastic manner. MAG caught up with the social media star to find out what catches her fancy. Excerpts:
MAG: For the unversed, why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself?
TM: My name is Tamkenat Mansoor. I am a medical doctor and currently working as an aesthetic physician. Mostly people know me through my work on social media as a content creator, an activist for sociopolitical reforms and an actor.
MAG: How did you start your career down this path instead, having been formally trained in medicine?
TM: My career began through content creation on social media. I’ve been making videos and content since 2017. I started with YouTube and Facebook, and over time, some people in the industry noticed my work. Faseeh [Khan] bhai was the first to reach out, wanting to collaborate on a web project. After that, I got a call from Hum TV and worked on Kala Doriya. Around the same time, I was offered a role in Stand Up Girl by Kashif Nisar sahab, which I accepted. That’s how my journey unfolded.
MAG: What do you think the future holds for you?
TM: I’m planning to take on more diverse roles. Since I’ve done comedy for a long time, I want to explore something different now – perhaps more serious or even darker roles. I’m excited about that. I also plan to continue content creation and expand it by having my own show on my channel.
Additionally, I’m really interested in photoshoots because I love fashion, dressing up, and getting my make-up done. So, my future plans include doing more diverse work, more photoshoots, and creating interesting content, along with new collaborations.
MAG: Anything interesting that you are currently involved in?
TM: There isn’t anything currently on-air, but I have a few projects in the making. These are not for mainstream TV, but for some OTT platforms, and they’re quite different and interesting. I’m also doing some writing, as well as performing, which I really enjoy. Though I find writing a bit difficult because I can be a little lazy, I also love it because it gives me more control over the type of content I want to be part of. At the moment, my focus is on improving myself both, in the content I create and in my personal health and well-being.
MAG: What kind of fashion trends do you fancy?
TM: I love a mix of styles. For everyday wear, I prefer loose, flowy clothes like loose pants with oversized shirts, accessorised with chunky jewellery and tote bags. On the other hand, I also adore high-end, well-constructed, body-hugging gowns with creative details, like gold accents. These gowns feel like little pieces of art. I also enjoy wearing saris, so my style is a blend of comfort, modernity, and creativity.
MAG: What kind of make-up do you prefer on yourself?
TM: For everyday make-up, I prefer a minimalistic and natural look. I don’t wear foundation unless it’s for a proper event. My usual routine includes just a bit of concealer, mascara, blush, and a light pink or nude lipstick. When I dress up for an event, I love brown smokey eyes, which suit me well. As for brows, I’m really into the feathery brow trend, but overall, I stick to a natural, glowy look.
