Patrick J. Adams claims "Suits" paved the way for "Succession" success

Patrick J. Adams, best known for his role as Mike Ross in the legal drama Suits, recently sparked a conversation about the influence of his show on the smash-hit HBO series Succession. In an episode of his podcast Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast, Adams presented his theory that Suits paved the way for Succession's success.

Adams pointed to several similarities between the two shows. Both take place in New York City and focus on the high-stakes world of power brokers. He even noted that some actors, like Dagmara Domiñczyk and Rob Yang, appeared in both series.

Succession has garnered significant critical acclaim, winning numerous awards including Golden Globes and Emmys. Adams acknowledges this, playfully noting that Suits was the "PG version" compared to the more mature themes explored in Succession since it has less content restrictions.

While Suits initially aired on basic cable network USA Network from 2011 to 2019, it has seen a resurgence in popularity since landing on Netflix in 2023, becoming the most-streamed show of the year. A reboot, Suits L.A., is also in the works.
