Dr. Shahzad Nasim, an Overseas Pakistani, has significantly contributed to Singapore’s urban and infrastructure development. Dr. Nasim began his career in Singapore after earning a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Over the years, he has overseen major projects such as Marina Bay Financial Centre, One Raffles Quay, and Gardens by the Bay. His work emphasizes sustainability, innovation, and cost-effectiveness, aligning with Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative and its emphasis on green urban planning.

Dr. Shahzad Nasim, a prominent Pakistani engineer and Executive Chairman of the Meinhardt Group, has made significant contributions to Singapore’s development, especially in civil and structural engineering. His leadership at Meinhardt, a global consultancy, has enabled the firm to play a crucial role in many landmark projects that shape Singapore’s skyline, including the Marina Bay Financial Centre, Gardens by the Bay, Changi Airport, and major transportation projects. Since joining Meinhardt in 1974, Dr. Nasim has expanded its team from just 10 employees to a regional powerhouse with over 450 engineers in Singapore alone, and has overseen more than 4,000 projects in the city-state.

Dr. Shahzad Nasim has received numerous awards and global recognition for his significant contributions to engineering and infrastructure development. His achievements include winning the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Engineering) in 2012, highlighting his leadership in transforming the Meinhardt Group into a major global consultancy. Additionally, he was awarded the inaugural Distinguished Professional Engineer Award in 2014 by Singapore’s Professional Engineers Board, recognizing his outstanding impact on the field and his role in setting high standards for professional engineering in Singapore.

Dr. Nasim’s contributions to Singapore’s development were further acknowledged with the NUS Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award in 2015, celebrating his expertise and leadership within the local engineering community. His leadership role in Meinhardt has helped shape landmark projects such as the Dubai Mall and Singapore’s Marina Bay Financial Centre, further solidifying his international reputation for excellence in structural and civil engineering.

Dr. Shahzad Nasim has been recognized with two of Pakistan’s prestigious national honors: the Hilal-e-Imtiaz and the Hilal-e-Pakistan. These awards acknowledge his significant contributions to Pakistan’s infrastructure and development, especially his involvement in complex, large-scale projects like Creek Marina in Karachi. Dr. Nasim’s company, Meinhardt Group, has delivered high-quality engineering and consultancy services in Pakistan and internationally. Despite legal controversies around the Creek Marina project, Dr. Nasim has maintained his commitment to Pakistan’s development and has continued to advocate for the project’s completion in line with high standards.
