Mariyam Nafees was invited for a chat on Gup Shab, where she revealed her insights on what an industry friendship truly entails, aside from the star-studded posts we see on social media. When asked how she navigates the industry aside from being an activist, Mariyam joked, "I try not to!" Further explaining herself, she confessed trying not to get into it, adding that she prefers to keep to herself and urges others to do the same.
"What I've learned is, you don't really have friends in the industry. As for the few friends I do have, they've been with me for much longer," she revealed. The actress further added that co-workers do become acquaintances though nothing more meaningful than that. "My small number of friends are very hand-picked, very dear to me. They've been very consistent throughout," Mariyam shared.
"People don't realise that being a friend carries a deep meaning. We tend to call everyone that, when not everyone is our friend. You have your work colleagues, you have your acquaintances," she counted. "Not everyone becomes your friend or best friend."
