Priyanka Chopra joins Oscar-shortlisted 'Anuja' as executive producer

Priyanka Chopra has joined the Oscar-shortlisted short film Anuja as an executive producer, marking a significant milestone for the film, which is in the running for the 2025 Academy Awards in the live-action short film category. Anuja, directed by Adam J. Graves, tells the poignant story of a nine-year-old girl, Anuja, working in a back-alley garment factory with her older sister.

The film explores the emotional turmoil of a life-altering decision that could change their future. The short film has already received recognition, having won the Live Action Short award at the 2024 HollyShorts Film Festival. In a statement to Variety, Chopra expressed her pride in being part of the project. "This beautiful film shines a spotlight on a subject that affects millions of children worldwide, who are faced with the impossible decision between a future they cannot yet see and the immediate realities of their present. Anuja is a poignant, thought-provoking piece that makes us reflect deeply on the power of choices and how they shape the course of our lives," shared the actress.

Other producers of the film include Mindy Kaling and Oscar-winner Guneet Monga, further elevating its reach and impact. Chopra previously executive produced the Oscar-nominated documentary To Kill A Tiger and the acclaimed Netflix film The White Tiger.
