St. Patrick’s High School proudly hosted its Cultural Day 2025, a vibrant celebration of Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage, unity, and history. The event was further elevated by the inauguration of the school’s state-of-the-art ARO Plant, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and community welfare. The school extended a warm welcome to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, a distinguished alumnus of St. Patrick’s High School, and His Grace Bishop Benny Mario Travas, the spiritual leader of the Archdiocese of Karachi. Their presence added immense value to this special day, showcasing the school’s enduring legacy of producing leaders and fostering harmony.
The program began with Deputy Principal Miss Christine Martin delivering an inspiring welcome address to the esteemed guests, highlighting the significance of the day and the school’s dedication to promoting unity in diversity.
Interfaith Harmony
As a mark of interfaith respect, the event commenced with the readings from the Bible, Quran, and Geeta, symbolising the shared values of peace, love, and tolerance among different faiths. This profound act set the tone for a day filled with cultural unity and pride.
Cultural Performances
The stage came alive as students showcased the cultural heritage of Pakistan’s provinces:
• Punjab: Students performed vibrant bhangra and showcased traditional attire, reflecting Punjab’s lively spirit.
• Sindh: The beauty of Sindhi culture was highlighted through ajrak, topi, and traditional dances.
• Balochistan: The rugged charm of Balochi culture was portrayed through folk music and dances.
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Traditional Pashto music and dance brought the region’s rich culture to life.
• Gilgit-Baltistan: Students represented the serene beauty and traditions of Gilgit-Baltistan with graceful performances.
Drama on Pakistan’s Leaders
A powerful drama was staged, celebrating the contributions of Pakistan’s visionary leaders such as Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Liaquat Ali Khan, Fatima Jinnah, and Allama Iqbal. The performance served as a reminder of their sacrifices and the values that shaped the nation.
Honouring the Guests
To honour their contributions and presence, the school presented commemorative shields to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Bishop Benny Mario Travas. This gesture underscored the school’s gratitude for their support and leadership.
Unity in Diversity
The event culminated in a Grand Finale, where students from all provinces joined together in a spectacular performance symbolising the unity and strength of Pakistan. The colourful display of harmony and togetherness captivated the audience and left a lasting impression.
Inauguration of ARO Plant
The day concluded with the inauguration of the ARO Plant, a project dedicated to providing clean and safe drinking water for the school and the surrounding community. The Chief Minister officially unveiled the plant, commending the school’s leadership and vision in prioritising health and sustainability.
Baithak for Refreshments
For refreshments, the school arranged a unique St. Patrick’s Baithak, blending traditional hospitality with modern convenience. Guests enjoyed a warm and welcoming atmosphere while engaging with the school community.
Remarks by the Dignitaries
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed his pride as an alumnus of St. Patrick’s High School. “This institution has always been a beacon of excellence, nurturing leaders and promoting unity. I am honoured to be part of this celebration,” he said. Bishop Benny Mario Travas also commended the school’s efforts, stating, “St. Patrick’s is not just an educational institution; it is a symbol of harmony and progress. Today’s event is a testament to its commitment to shaping the future while honouring the past.” Rev. Fr. Mario Angelo Rodrigues, the Principal, extended heartfelt gratitude to the guests, staff, and students. “Today, we have celebrated the beauty of our nation and taken a step towards a sustainable future. St. Patrick’s will continue to uphold its legacy of unity, education, and service,” he shared.
