The fabric uses fine, high-thread-count yarn and has a smooth, luxurious texture. Its lightweight nature and semi-transparency make it a popular choice for dyeing and printing. After being imported to the subcontinent during partition, lawn production became predominantly based in Pakistan, where the abundant cotton supply led to a shift from linen to cotton. 

The fabric's breathability made it a hit in Pakistan's hot summers and quickly became a popular fabric for women's clothing. This opened up a new world of fashion possibilities for women in Pakistan. Pakistani lawn dresses have captivated hearts and imaginations worldwide, transcending cultural boundaries and establishing themselves as a global fashion phenomenon.
