Pakistan Eyes Stronger Economic Ties With Japan

India’s Disinformation Campaign and the Erosion of South Asian Peace.
The fragile equilibrium between Pakistan and India is under unprecedented strain – not merely from cross-border hostilities but from a far more sinister battleground: the media war. While military standoffs have historically defined this rivalry, the real conflict today is being waged through disinformation, where narratives are weaponized, facts are twisted, and public sentiment is manipulated to justify aggression and sabotage peace.
Indian media, once regarded as a democratic institution, has degenerated into a propaganda arm of the state, amplifying unverified allegations and hyper-nationalist rhetoric. This toxic media ecosystem does more than mislead – it endangers the entire region, making dialogue impossible and conflict inevitable.
Manufacturing Consent: Indian Media’s Role in Fueling Anti-Pakistan Hysteria
The Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir is the latest example of how Indian media preemptively blames Pakistan without evidence. Within hours, sensationalist networks like Republic TV and Times Now were broadcasting baseless accusations, often using doctored footage or even video game clips as "proof" of Pakistan’s involvement.
This is not an anomaly. After the 2019 Pulwama attack, Indian media conducted a trial by propaganda, convicting Pakistan in the court of public opinion long before any investigation. Later revelations exposed India’s own security lapses, but the damage was irreversible – Pakistan had already been vilified globally.
The EU DisinfoLab’s explosive "Indian Chronicles" report laid bare India’s vast disinformation network – over 750 fake news outlets and NGOs – used to malign Pakistan internationally. These findings validate what Pakistan has long maintained: India is engaged in a systematic campaign to isolate Islamabad through deceit.
India’s Unilateral Aggression: Undermining Peace and International Law
Instead of pursuing diplomacy, Modi’s government has consistently chosen escalation:
• Illegally revoking Article 370 in 2019, violating UN resolutions on Kashmir’s disputed status.
• Dismantling the Simla Agreement, which mandates peaceful bilateral conflict resolution.
• Rejecting neutral investigations into incidents like Pahalgam, opting instead for military brinkmanship.
India’s Operation Sindoor – a retaliatory strike following Pahalgam – was another reckless escalation, bypassing diplomacy in favor of chest-thumping militarism. This pattern confirms New Delhi’s contempt for international law and regional stability.
Pakistan’s Restraint: A Beacon of Responsibility Amid Provocation
While India fans the flames of war, Pakistan has responded with unwavering restraint and statesmanship:
• Operation Bunyad-e-Marsus demonstrated measured retaliation, avoiding all-out conflict.
• Repeated calls for dialogue on Kashmir and terrorism, despite India’s obstinate refusal.
• Unwavering humanitarianism, maintaining the Kartarpur Corridor for Sikh pilgrims even as India blocks visas and trade.
Unlike India’s warmongering media, Pakistan’s press has largely upheld journalistic integrity, exposing India’s atrocities in Kashmir and countering fake news with verified reporting.
The Human Cost: When Politics Overrides People
India’s politicization of sports, trade, and culture has inflicted the deepest wounds on ordinary citizens:
• Cricket diplomacy sabotaged: The IPL suspended over security fears, mirroring PSL disruptions caused by Indian aggression.
• Trade strangled, visas denied, devastating livelihoods on both sides.
• Cultural exchanges frozen, deepening divisions between nations that share centuries of history, language, and heritage.
The Path Forward: De-escalation Before Disaster
With two nuclear-armed rivals locked in hostility, the stakes could not be higher. To avert catastrophe, the following steps are urgently needed:
1. Reaffirm the Simla Agreement – commit to bilateral dialogue, not unilateral aggression.
2. Establish impartial investigative mechanisms for incidents like Pahalgam.
3. Curb war-mongering media – hold Indian outlets accountable for spreading disinformation.
4. Restore people-to-people ties – reopen trade, sports, and cultural exchanges.
5. Revive SAARC – a regional forum for conflict resolution.
Will India Choose Peace Over Propaganda?
Pakistan has consistently extended the hand of peace, only to be met with India’s disinformation and militarism. The choice is stark: escalate toward mutual destruction or return to the negotiating table.
The world must recognize India’s media-driven warmongering for what it is – a global security threat. Pakistan, meanwhile, must continue exposing the truth, advocating peace, and resisting provocations.
The fate of 1.5 billion South Asians hinges on India’s next move.
