KARACHI'S TRAFFIC – A CITY STUCK IN CHAOS
Karachi’s roads are in a constant state of chaos. No matter where you go – school, work, or home – traffic delays are almost guaranteed. Long hours are wasted sitting in vehicles, surrounded by noise, frustration, and confusion. The traffic system is broken, and everyone feels it.
Drivers often ignore traffic signals. Buses stop anywhere they want. Motorcyclists ride on footpaths. There’s little respect for rules, and even less enforcement. Traffic wardens are rarely seen where they’re most needed. Signals don’t work, roads are full of potholes, and illegal parking creates blockages everywhere.
The city is growing fast, but the traffic planning hasn’t kept up. Public transport is unreliable, leaving people no choice but to use private vehicles, adding to the mess. Rain makes the situation even worse – roads flood, traffic stops, and the entire city suffers.
Time lost in traffic affects more than just daily schedules. It impacts health, work, and quality of life. Karachi is Pakistan’s largest and most important city. It deserves roads that flow, buses that run properly, and a traffic system that actually works.
Without serious planning, enforcement, and investment, the roads will stay jammed – and the city will keep falling behind.

SEVERAL KEY ROADS IN GULSHAN-E-IQBAL HAVE BEEN DUG UP FOR DEVELOPMENT
I am writing on behalf of the residents of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, to bring to your attention the prolonged and incomplete road construction work that has been ongoing for several months in our area. The situation has become extremely inconvenient and is severely affecting the daily lives of thousands of people.
Several key roads in Gulshan-e-Iqbal have been dug up for development and repair purposes, but the construction work seems to be progressing at a very slow pace. In some areas, there has been little to no work for weeks, leaving open trenches, piles of debris, and incomplete surfaces. This has resulted in massive traffic jams, damaged vehicles, increased dust pollution, and even safety hazards for pedestrians, especially school children and the elderly.
Emergency services, such as ambulances, also face delays due to blocked or narrowed roads. Local businesses are suffering too, as customers avoid visiting areas that are difficult to access.
We understand the need for infrastructure development, but the lack of planning and timely execution is unacceptable. We urge the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to speed up the construction work, deploy additional resources if needed, and ensure timely completion to relieve the public of this prolonged hardship.
Khalid Ahmed Sheikh,
Karachi.
