Rachel Zegler and Marisa Tomei to pair up as mother-daughter duo in upcoming comedy-drama

Rachel Zegler, Disney’s newly crowned Snow White, has secured her next film role in the comedy-drama She Gets It From Me, where she will star alongside Marisa Tomei. As per Variety, Zegler is set to play Nicky, a young woman whose engagement celebration leads her to embark on a chaotic journey to find her estranged, pill-popping, ex-punk rocker birth mother, Charlotte, portrayed by Tomei. The film, directed by Julia von Heinz, is based on a true story and will explore the messy aftermath of family reunions, as the mother and daughter reconnect in a way that is both comedic and deeply emotional. The film’s premise captures the absurd yet meaningful dynamics of family relationships, with von Heinz describing it as “funny, immersive cinema” that reflects real-life emotional truths.

Zegler has quickly risen to fame following her breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, which earned her a Golden Globe. Tomei, a three-time Oscar nominee and winner, is recognized for her role as May Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and continues to balance indie and studio work.
