I then shook my head and started walking back towards the exit of the university.
Later during the evening, I was wandering alone in the streets. The only thing going on in my mind was I am not Henry Eckhart. Who am I? The answer can only be found through the people I don’t trust.
If I had enough resources to create terror, I would have forced them to reveal my true identity but I didn’t have any. What if I simply arrange a hand gun and after placing it on the head of any one of the girls, discover my true identity? It all sounds good, but in a world of fairy tales.
In this realistic world, I am absolutely helpless. I have nowhere to go. My sole problem is that I desperately want to discover my true identity. I am unable to compromise on this.
All the while I was walking, I wanted to throw tantrums but I couldn’t. I can be a wild animal if I want to but I am simply resisting myself on every breath.
Luke’s expressions had made me even more confident on my uncertainties. Initially there might have been some doubts, but now there are none. I am as sure about their falsehood as much as I am about the sun that is setting.
Several minutes later, while I was having a hot dog in the same street, I asked the stall owner:
“Have you ever seen me here before?”
“No”
“Not ever?”
“Positive” he replied looking at my face.
Oh God. I spoke in my heart. Does this mean that I don’t even belong to this place?
I walked away from the stall and thought of asking someone else. I found a taxi driver whom I also saw two days ago. This guy must be a permanent resident or a constant visitor. I asked him:
“Excuse me sir? Can I ask you something?”
“Yes” he looked at me with absurdness.
“Do you know me?”
“Excuse me?”
“Have you seen me here before? Have you ever seen me?”
“No” he replied giving an expression of awkwardness.
I sadly moved away but then came back and asked:
“Do you come here quite often?”
“For quite a few days, yes”
I got quite worried and before I could annoy him, I just walked away and spoke in my heart:
Do not get panicked. Talk to the people of the city. You will get some clue, definitely.
I was running in slow speed. There were shops all around. I had no option but to ask all the shopkeepers one after another. Not just them but also the salesmen.
That evening, I went to all these shops and asked the same question:
“Have you ever seen me here before?”
From five shops, I got the negative answer. No salesman, no worker, nobody knew me. Then finally one salesman gave me some hope:
“Yes I have seen you around quite a few times”
“Since how long have you been seeing me?”
“I think about a year”
“Really? Have we talked before? Do you know my name?”
“No, I don’t think so”
“Ok, well thank you. I’ll meet you again”
I opened the door of my apartment and entered inside, after few minutes. I was a bit relieved but what I saw ahead was quite surprising. An aged man with black shades was seated on a sofa inside my house at the living room.
“Hello, how are you?” he spoke like any other normal person.
“Who are you? And how did you get inside?”
“I’m here with an offer. I can help you with what you need. Sit down”
“Wait” I walked towards him, “who are you? Do you live here with me?”
“No. But I do know about your condition”
I gained a little interest and waited for him to speak further. He continued:
“You are suffering from amnesia. You don’t remember who you are, which is why you can’t trust your three friends”
“Oh my God” I gasped. “Who are you? Tell me now!”
“My last name is Kingston. You can call me Mr. Kingston. I know everything about you and your past. I can help you discover your identity”
“How?”
“By simply revealing it to you; with documents and other stuff”
“Oh God. Look, I am stressed enough already” I requested. “Please don’t try to miss use me. Kindly just reveal my identity…Think of me as a needy person and do me a favor”
“Look kid, you are like a bird that has just hatched from his egg. You know nothing about the world and there is danger all around. I am here to help you, but I won’t do it for free”
“What exactly do you want from me?”
“I’ll tell you when I’ll have to. Right now I must warn you that you cannot trust anyone besides me”
“Ok, then I have the right to ask…”
“…That why should I trust you” he interrupted me and completed my sentence.
“Exactly”
“You will automatically trust me. We need just one more meeting together and then you’ll have faith in me”
He stood up and walked towards the exit of my house. He spoke philosophically before leaving:
“The sun is setting now, but it will rise tomorrow”
“At what time?”
“Don’t worry, just stay inside this house. I’ll come and meet you”
He left and shut the door.
Twenty Four Hours Later
I was inside the apartment and I was desperately waiting for this strange unknown man. I was wondering if he could be harmful, but I had to take this risk. He had given me his word on revealing my identity.
I heard and saw the door of my apartment unlocking and opening itself. Mr. Kingston came inside and greeted me.
A moment later, while the two of us were seated together on the large couch, I asked him:
“Can you simply please tell me that will I or will I not get my identity today?”
“No not today. Today you are going to have to trust me”
“Ok” I replied with boredom.
He took out his cell phone and showed me a picture of us standing together and talking.
I was a bit shaken, I looked at the picture carefully with different angles.
He smiled probably thinking that I was convinced.
“Do you want to see more?” he asked me.
“Yes, definitely”
This time he showed me a moving video of us together. Yes, I was speechless. Yes, I was hundred percent convinced.
In the video, the two of us were seated at the open air restaurant, but we were probably not alone.
“Anything you want to say?” he asked me.
I shook my head and responded after a gap:
“No, I trust you now. I honestly do”
“Good”
He kept the cell phone aside and then changed the mode of the conversation:
“So you’re living here all by yourself. Do you cook?”
“No…Actually I found plenty of money inside some drawer. So I purchase it”
He nodded.
“So, are we there yet?” he asked after a moment of pause.
“Where?”
“Are we going to make a deal?”
I was silent as I didn’t have anything to say.
“Our deal is” he continued, “you will commit some act and in exchange I will reveal your true identity before you”
“My true identity? Wait, what will I have to do for you?”
“I’ll let you know. But right now you just to make your decision. Do you or do you not want your identity with official documents”
Of course I do. An answer came from inside my heart. I want it in exchange for entire world.
I did not speak a word before him. He tried to convince me in his own way:
“You are like a person standing on a pole in the center of the sea. Either way you’ll move, there is danger”
I agreed with him but I finally spoke:
“Look I want my identity by all means. I am willing to work for you, but I do want to know what I will have to do”
“You’re not going to work for me, no. All you have to do is, commit a crime”
“A crime?” I was deeply shaken.
“Yes something heinous. But not quite difficult. Once you do your job, your entire history will be there before you”
“Please don’t tell me that I have to kill someone”
He stood up and while tapping my shoulder he said to me:
“Right now you just need to ask yourself. Are you willing to go this far, in order to discover your true identity?”
I think I am. My heart gave me an answer but I kept silent.
He then walked away slowly. Before finally leaving my house, he stated:
“We’ll meet after twelve hours. You have ample time to make your decision”
As I saw him leave, I felt that I should not let go of him. This man was like the key to a door. A door that would reveal my reality before me once unlocked.
I was walking downstairs in the street and I was asking myself:
Can you think of any other way?
I was eager to learn my identity, but this new person even though he earned my trust, was not reliable enough to save me from troubles that might follow.
Committing a crime, I was willing to do that. But facing the consequences afterwards, not really my thing.
Unfortunately on the other hand, there was no hope. If I would say no to him, then my chances of knowing who I am would be reduced even further.
How can I think of a win win situation?
I see people walking around, I assume they all are so happy with their lives. They have their identities. They know who they are. What more do they want in life.
I held my face in anxiety as I was so trapped that I had no other way. No one could help me. The people who were willing to help me were simply not trust worthy enough. I am living a life of rent. It doesn’t seem that I own myself.
Quite unexpectedly I saw someone passing by. He was a man I never saw before. He greeted me and waved me quite gentility.
Without thinking of any kind of courtesy or politeness, I simply followed him and held him through his hands. I asked him:
“Do you know me? Who am I?”
“Excuse me?!” he said removing my hand away from his’.
“Please tell me, do you know me?”
“No I don’t” he spoke and moved backwards.
“You just greeted me”
“So what? I greet everyone here”
“Do you know me? Do you know my name?”
“No. I just know that you live around in the neighborhood”
I regretted realizing that he was useless like all others.
Finally as the time came, Mr. Kingston and I were standing together face to face on my apartment’s terrace. He asked me:
“So what is your final decision?”
I gave my reply:
Finally as the time came, Mr. Kingston and I were standing face to face on my apartment’s terrace. He asked me:

I gave my reply:
“Yes I will do it”
He appeared stunned, but he appreciated me:
“Good. I am impressed. You made an instant decision”
“What will I have to do?” I asked.
