The Pakistan Super League franchise Lahore Qalandars is seen working with the same dedication and commitment in the off-season as the Pakistan Cricket Board and other franchises do during the PSL itself. In this regard, the management of Lahore Qalandars especially their two owners, Atif Rana and Sameen Rana truly deserve congratulations and praise. Through their tireless hard work and devotion, they have turned Lahore Qalandars into a trusted brand, not only in the Pakistan Super League but also across the world.
After South Africa, Australia, Zimbabwe, and the West Indies, a few years ago Lahore Qalandars’ owner Sameen Rana signed a partnership agreement with English county Yorkshire. Under this agreement, provisions were made for player exchanges, training opportunities for talented cricketers, and cooperation for player development. Following this agreement in 2021, the county’s director former England Test fast bowler Darren Gough came to Lahore, where he personally conducted player trials during the Qalandars’ Player Development Program and highly praised the way Lahore Qalandars operate.
And now, taking this journey further, Sameen Rana has recently officially announced a groundbreaking partnership agreement with English county Warwickshire. Through this collaboration, Lahore Qalandars and Warwickshire are set to begin a new era for the promotion of cricket. Under this long-term plan, both will work together to promote the game globally.
Warwickshire’s Finance Director, Ibrahim Khan, says that this collaboration with Lahore Qalandars is not limited to top-level cricket only. In the future, together we will create pathways for young talent, launch community projects, and pool resources to strengthen the game at all levels.
Lahore Qalandars’ owner, Sameen Rana, calls this agreement a milestone. He says that their vision has always gone beyond borders, and this partnership is part of that vision. He adds that, together with Warwickshire, they will nurture talent, bring the communities of Lahore and Birmingham closer, and create a sustainable model that will strengthen both on and off the field. Most importantly, it will leave behind a lasting legacy for the future of the game.
On the other hand, Lahore Qalandars’ owner Atif Rana recently met with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, where both sides discussed youth participation and sports-related matters across the country.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, said that there is no shortage of talent among Pakistani youth. He termed the initiatives to discover talent at the grassroots level and to provide equal opportunities for women as highly positive and the need of the hour. The Speaker also praised the promotion of sports across the country and the vision of Lahore Qalandars.
During the meeting, Lahore Qalandars’ owner Atif Rana informed the Speaker that more than one hundred thousand children have received training through the Players Development Program so far. He added that special focus is being given to the youth of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in order to bring them into the national mainstream.
Regarding women, Atif Rana told Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq that women’s cricket talent hunt programs have been held in more than 25 cities across the country, so that talented women can be provided opportunities for professional careers in cricket.
Atif Rana said that the core objective of Lahore Qalandars is to provide the general public with opportunities for sports and entertainment.
