- 06 Jun - 12 Jun, 2026
Pakistan has achieved a momentous milestone on the global stage by winning two prestigious international awards at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan – a feat that reflects the nation’s creativity, innovation, and growing stature in global cultural diplomacy.
BIE Bronze Award – A Recognition of Creative Vision
The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) presented Pakistan with the Bronze Award in the exhibition category for outstanding creativity, artistic presentation, and visual storytelling. The award was received by Mr. Muhammad Naseer, Director General of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and Head of the Pakistan Pavilion, during a special ceremony at the Expo.
Despite limited resources and space, Pakistan’s pavilion captivated millions with its imaginative design and cultural depth. The structure reflected the nation’s natural beauty, craftsmanship, and innovative spirit, transforming a small space into a grand experience that celebrated Pakistan’s essence.
Editors’ Choice Award – Global Praise and Admiration
Pakistan also won the Editors’ Choice Award, presented by Exhibitor Online, recognizing the world’s most creative and culturally representative pavilions. The Pakistani Pavilion stood out for its artistic identity, originality, and emotional connection with visitors.
Spread across only 53 square meters, the pavilion welcomed over 1.7 million visitors, marking a record for any Pakistani pavilion in Expo history. Visitors from Japan and around the world praised it as “not just a display, but a complete cultural experience that reveals the soul of Pakistan.”
Ambassador Abdul Hameed’s Tribute
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner General at the Expo, H.E. Abdul Hameed, congratulated the entire team, saying:
“It was an honor to serve as both Pakistan’s Ambassador and Commissioner General for the Pavilion. The way our team presented Pakistan’s culture, minerals, innovation, and positive identity is a matter of immense pride for every Pakistani.”
He commended Project Director Muhammad Naseer and his team for their professionalism and dedication, calling the achievement “a reflection of the new, creative, and hardworking Pakistan.”
Acknowledgment of the Team’s Dedication
Ambassador Hameed extended special appreciation to the TDAP officials whose tireless efforts made this success possible, including Adeel Mukhtar (Deputy Director), Dr. Arfa Shahid (Assistant Director), Ahmed Khan (Assistant Director), and Sajjad Shah (Event Management Consultant). Their meticulous coordination of the pavilion’s operations, events, and VIP engagements was widely praised.
Support from National Leadership
Ambassador Hameed also thanked Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan, and Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for their strong support and representation, which further elevated Pakistan’s image at the Expo. He also expressed gratitude to Japanese officials for their exceptional cooperation and hospitality.
Muhammad Naseer’s Message – A National Achievement
In his remarks, Muhammad Naseer, DG TDAP and Head of the Pavilion, emphasized that this victory was a collective national success:
“This achievement belongs to the entire nation. It reflects teamwork, leadership, and the unwavering commitment of everyone involved – from the Ministry of Commerce to every member of our Expo team.”
He also lauded the pavilion’s creative director Noorjehan Bilgrami, whose conceptual theme, “Universe in a Grain of Salt,” beautifully symbolized Pakistan’s natural resources, artistry, and spiritual depth – showing how “the story of the universe can be found within a single grain of Himalayan pink salt.”
Closing Ceremony – A Celebration of Global Unity
The Expo 2025 Osaka closing ceremony was held at the Shining Heart Hall, attended by Crown Prince Akishino, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Osaka Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura, and Expo Secretary General Hiroyuki Ishige.
Prime Minister Ishiba announced that the six-month-long event attracted over 28 million visitors, making it the most successful global exposition in Japan’s history.
At the end of the ceremony, the BIE flag was officially handed over to the next host country, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for Expo 2030.
On the same day, a special appreciation event was held at the Pakistan Pavilion, where Ambassador Hameed distributed certificates of recognition to the pavilion staff, volunteers, and support teams.
A New Image of Pakistan on the Global Stage
Pakistan’s participation at Expo 2025 sent a powerful message to the world – that the country is not only the custodian of a rich cultural heritage but also a modern, creative, and peace-loving nation ready to engage with the world. The pavilion’s success embodied a vibrant blend of artistry, intellect, natural wealth, and national pride, proving that Pakistan’s soft power lies in its people, creativity, and resilience.
Conclusion – A Beacon of Hope and Inspiration
The two prestigious honors – the BIE Bronze Award and the Editors’ Choice Award – represent far more than trophies. They mark Pakistan’s renewed identity as a nation of imagination, innovation, and cultural depth.
This triumph stands as an inspiration for artists, entrepreneurs, and policymakers alike – a reminder that with vision, unity, and relentless effort, Pakistan can and will continue to shine brightly on the world stage.
Expo 2025 Osaka will forever be remembered as the moment when Pakistan’s creativity touched the hearts of millions and the world rediscovered the beauty of a nation full of hope, artistry, and potential.
