Adam Driver and Anne Hathaway to star in war drama ‘Alone at Dawn’

Adam Driver and Anne Hathaway are set to star in Alone at Dawn, a true-life war drama directed by Ron Howard for Amazon MGM Studios.

The film is adapted from the 2019 book Alone at Dawn by Dan Schilling and Lori Longfritz, which tells the story of U.S. Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman. Driver will portray Chapman, while Hathaway takes on the role of the intelligence officer who later campaigned to secure Chapman a ‘Medal of Honor’.

Chapman was part of a SEAL Team Six mission in Afghanistan when his helicopter was downed. Despite multiple wounds, he defended his team and engaged in further combat after being left for dead. His bravery saved lives and, years later, led to a push to upgrade his ‘Air Force Cross’ to the ‘Medal of Honor’ – a move initially resisted by some branches of the military.

The screenplay has gone through several drafts, with Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl on the Train) and Amy Herzog (The Savant) contributing. Dan Schilling, also a combat control veteran, is serving as a military consultant.
