AK: Looking back at your extensive careers, what initially drew you to acting, and how has that initial passion evolved over the years?
(FQ):
Looking back at my journey, I wouldn't say that acting was a childhood passion of mine. In fact, I started my career in modelling, but as I began to explore the world of performance, I discovered a new outlet for self-expression that truly sparked my interest – acting. As I started taking on roles and embodying different characters, I found myself becoming increasingly fascinated by the process of bringing stories to life and exploring the depths of human emotion. The more I acted, the more I felt alive, and my excitement for the craft grew with each new project and character.

(KKN): Amitabh Bachchan and Shafi Mohammad Shah have always been my inspirations. Their legacy and dedication keep me motivated in this field, fueling my desire to make my mark.

AK: Could you share a pivotal role or project that you feel significantly shaped your artistic path or public perception?

FQ: A few projects that significantly shaped my artistic journey include "Ab Mera Intezaar Kar," "Rozi," "Achanak," "Awazain," and "Kashish." Each of these challenged me to push beyond my limits and tap into new emotional depths. The experiences I gained from these defining moments in my career have been invaluable; they continue to influence my work today. Not only did these projects mold my artistic path, but they also played a crucial role in shifting public perception, opening doors to new opportunities, and introducing me to a wider audience. I feel immensely grateful to have been part of such transformative experiences.

KKN: My roles in "Hawain," "Marvi," "Ye Zindagi," and others were life-changing for me. Each project allowed me to explore different facets of myself and left a lasting impact on my artistic journey.

AK: What have been some of the most memorable moments or performances in your career, and what made them stand out?
FQ:
Some of the most memorable moments in my career have been working with renowned directors who consistently pushed me to deliver my best performance. Being part of projects that sparked meaningful conversations and resonated with audiences has also been profoundly rewarding. Receiving awards and recognition for my work validated my craft and the hard work I’ve put in. Collaborating with talented colleagues who inspire me with their passion and dedication has enriched my experience immensely. Overcoming personal challenges through complex characters and demanding roles has been a journey of growth. These moments stand out because they showcase the true power of storytelling and the profound impact it can have on people's lives.

KKN: Every project I complete is like a cherished child to me, so all of my plays hold equal importance in my heart. Each one has its own story and significance.

AK: How have you navigated the changes and challenges within the entertainment industry over the decades?
FQ:
I've navigated the ever-evolving landscape of the entertainment industry by embracing new technologies and diversifying my skills. Staying true to my artistic vision while continuously learning and adapting as an artist has been key to my success. I've learned that flexibility is the name of the game, and being willing to evolve is crucial. My focus has shifted from merely delivering performances to understanding the profound impact that my work can have on audiences. I've been fortunate to be part of projects that resonate with people and spark meaningful conversations.

KKN: Change is always good, especially in the performing arts. One has to learn from living examples of one's ideals. I've accepted my grey hair, my age, and both my positive and negative energies. Alhamdulillah, with the blessings of my fans and loved ones, I’m still here, thriving.

AK: How has your approach to character development changed from your earlier roles to your more recent ones?
FQ:
As I've matured as an actor, I've refined my approach to character development. I now place a greater emphasis on depth, nuance, and authenticity, striving to bring complexity to every character I portray. I've explored various techniques and methods to better embody each role, making my performances more compelling and relatable to the audience.

AK: Are there any specific techniques or philosophies you've adopted over time that are fundamental to your acting process?
FQ:
I've incorporated various techniques into my process, including method acting, improvisation, script analysis, emotional recall, and physicality. These elements help me delve into my characters' depths and bring authenticity to my performances. I've also learned to trust my instincts, embrace vulnerability, and stay present in the moment, which is crucial for a genuine performance.

KKN: Today, most roles are offered based on actors' appearances, and no one has time to transform themselves completely. Actors are often juggling multiple projects at once, which makes hard work seem like a thing of the past – it's all about easy money these days.

AK: How do you prepare for a role, especially when it's vastly different from your own experiences?
FQ:
To prepare for a role that differs significantly from my own experiences, I dive into extensive research and immerse myself in the character's world. Collaborating closely with the director and fellow actors helps refine the character. It's all about being open, curious, and willing to learn and adapt.

KKN: In the past, scriptwriters involved leading actors in character development. Now, it's quite different; most directors today seem unaware of the scripts or even the storyline. Although the quality of screen production has improved, the content has notably declined due to a lack of interest and coordination between scriptwriters and actors. It's a subject open for debate.

AK: What is your perspective on collaboration with directors and fellow actors? How do you foster a productive creative environment?
FQ:
Collaboration brings out the best in everyone involved. To foster a productive creative environment, I encourage experimentation and risk-taking, as it often leads to the most groundbreaking work. I believe that an open exchange of ideas can lead to beautiful outcomes.

KKN: Unfortunately, on set, we hardly have the time to interact with one another. Many of my colleagues are preoccupied with their cell phones, which makes it difficult to foster a good environment, much less a creative one.

AK: What advice would you give to young actors just starting their careers today?
FQ:
My advice to young actors would be to develop a strong foundation in the craft and to remain authentic and true to themselves. Building a supportive network is crucial, along with staying humble and committed to continuous learning. Follow your passion and enjoy the journey, as every step is a building block towards your future.

KKN: Since we don’t have acting schools readily available here in Pakistan, aspiring actors should look to platforms like Netflix to learn from the performances of seasoned actors. Observing how they adapt to new techniques can be quite enlightening. However, I believe today’s young actors are doing quite well and are already trained, Alhamdulillah.

AK: What do you believe are the most important qualities for an actor to retain?
FQ:
For an actor, I believe the most important qualities are vulnerability, imagination, adaptability and resilience. These traits help actors bring depth, nuance, and believability to their performances, whether on stage or screen.

KKN: Ultimately, punctuality and honesty towards the job are paramount. They lay the groundwork for a successful career.

AK: How do you maintain your passion and creativity after so many years in the industry?
FQ:
I maintain my passion by collaborating with inspiring creatives and taking breaks to recharge and reflect. I find inspiration in life’s experiences and continuously set new goals to challenge myself creatively. It’s a journey that never truly ends; it’s about living in the moment and embracing growth.

KKN: As I mentioned earlier, I draw learning from existing examples, like Amitabh Bachchan, and I try to carry myself with the same flair as actors like Don Johnson and Richard Gere. I strive to embody their loyalty and dedication, just like Pierce Brosnan.

AK: Are there any roles you wished you had played, or any specific types of projects you'd still like to explore?
FQ:
The thrill of creativity lies in experimentation and growth! I would love the opportunity to star in a period drama or historical epic. As for rules, breaking them can be liberating! If I had to choose, I’d want to play against type and challenge audience expectations, pushing the boundaries of my craft.

KKN: I’ve always wanted to portray a character like a most wanted criminal, reminiscent of James Spader's role in "The Blacklist" on Netflix. That kind of complexity and darkness really intrigues me.

AK: What legacy do you hope to leave behind in the world of acting?
FQ:
I hope to leave a mark that inspires others to pursue their dreams, showing that passion and hard work can lead to significant achievements in the arts.

KKN: My legacy? Simply put, I want to be remembered as Kaiser Khan Nizamani. That's it – nothing more, nothing less.
