In a series of significant diplomatic and institutional engagements, Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Japan, Mr. Abdul Hameed, hosted multiple high-profile events and meetings in Tokyo aimed at expanding Pakistan–Japan relations across economic, business, and academic fronts.

These initiatives underscored Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Japan through dialogue, collaboration, and shared development goals.

Ambassador Abdul Hameed Hosts Dinner to Strengthen Pakistan–Japan Economic and Business Ties

The Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Japan, Mr. Abdul Hameed, hosted an exclusive dinner in Tokyo in honour of leading representatives from Japan’s foremost business and government organizations, including the Japan–Pakistan Business Cooperation Committee (JPBCC), JETRO, JICA, METI, PJBF, and prominent members of the Japanese business community.

The gathering reaffirmed the shared commitment to deepen economic cooperation and explore new dimensions of partnership between the two nations.

In his address, Ambassador Abdul Hameed appreciated Japan’s long-standing collaboration with Pakistan in trade, infrastructure, and human resource development. He highlighted Japan’s role as a trusted economic partner and stressed the need to expand bilateral trade beyond traditional areas into renewable energy, information technology, and advanced manufacturing.

The dinner served as a platform for direct dialogue between Japanese business leaders and the Embassy team. Discussions centered on Pakistan’s evolving market potential and opportunities in automotive parts, textiles, agriculture technology, and digital innovation.

Members of the Japan–Pakistan Business Cooperation Committee (JPBCC) expressed their continued support for strengthening private-sector collaboration and trade facilitation, while the Pakistan–Japan Business Forum (PJBF) was commended for its efforts to encourage joint ventures and business missions.

In his concluding remarks, Ambassador Abdul Hameed reaffirmed that Pakistan deeply values its friendship with Japan — a relationship built on mutual respect, trust, and shared development goals. He expressed optimism that through consistent engagement among governments, institutions, and private sectors, Pakistan and Japan would continue to build a forward-looking partnership grounded in innovation and prosperity.

The evening concluded with optimism and goodwill, as participants expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations and upcoming trade missions between Tokyo and Islamabad.

Ambassador Abdul Hameed Hosts Dinner Honouring Japan–Pakistan Association Ahead of PJA Symposium in Tokyo

On the same evening, Ambassador Abdul Hameed also hosted a special dinner in honour of the Japan–Pakistan Association (JPA), bringing together distinguished guests from Japan’s diplomatic, business, and academic communities. The gathering celebrated the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Japan while setting the tone for the upcoming PJA symposium, titled “Pakistan: A Resource-Rich Nation.”

The event was graced by several eminent personalities, including Mr. Imaizumi Shun, Chairman of the Japan–Pakistan Association; Mr. Matsushima Kouichi, President of YKK Corporation; and Mr. Kamimura Shigeaki of Toyota Tsusho. Adding to the evening’s distinction were former Ambassadors of Japan to Pakistan, Mr. Kojima Seiji and Mr. Matsuda Kumamoto, both of whom have made lasting contributions to strengthening bilateral relations.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Abdul Hameed praised the JPA for its consistent role in fostering understanding and cooperation between the two nations. He acknowledged Japan’s historical support for Pakistan in the fields of economic development, technology transfer, and human resource advancement, noting that such collaboration continues to define the essence of Pakistan–Japan friendship.

Highlighting Pakistan’s strategic position and growing economic potential, the Ambassador invited Japanese businesses to explore opportunities in renewable energy, mineral exploration, agriculture, and information technology. He emphasized that Pakistan’s youthful workforce and expanding industrial base make it a natural partner for Japanese investors seeking diversification and sustainable growth.

The dinner offered a platform for an open exchange of ideas focused on strengthening bilateral engagement through corporate partnerships, educational linkages, and people-to-people contacts. Participants agreed that deepening cooperation in innovation, research, and skill development could pave the way for a new era of economic and cultural partnership.

The forthcoming PJA symposium “Pakistan: A Resource-Rich Nation” was recognized as an important step toward showcasing Pakistan’s untapped potential and fostering dialogue on expanding trade and investment.

Concluding the event, Ambassador Abdul Hameed reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to nurturing its partnership with Japan and acknowledged the Japan–Pakistan Association’s vital contribution to strengthening bilateral ties. The evening ended with renewed enthusiasm and a shared vision for a stronger, forward-looking relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador Abdul Hameed Meets President of Yokohama National University to Enhance Academic Collaboration

Further reinforcing Pakistan–Japan cooperation in education and research, Ambassador Abdul Hameed held a productive meeting with Professor Umehara Izuru, President of Yokohama National University (YNU). The discussions focused on expanding academic exchanges, research collaboration, and scholarship opportunities for Pakistani students.

Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening student exchange programs between YNU and leading universities in Pakistan. They agreed on the need to increase scholarships and research opportunities, enabling young Pakistanis to gain exposure to Japan’s world-class academic and technological environment.

The Ambassador and Professor Umehara also discussed potential areas of joint research in natural disaster reduction, renewable energy, and sustainable development — sectors where Pakistan and Japan share mutual priorities and expertise. Ambassador Abdul Hameed lauded YNU’s ongoing contributions in building academic bridges and reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to expand educational and scientific cooperation with Japan.

During the visit, the Ambassador met with Pakistani students currently studying at YNU. He congratulated them on their achievements and encouraged them to serve as cultural ambassadors of Pakistan by representing the country’s talent, resilience, and commitment to learning.

The meeting reflected the growing momentum in Pakistan–Japan educational collaboration, highlighting shared values of innovation, resilience, and human resource development. Ambassador Abdul Hameed expressed optimism that sustained institutional linkages between universities of both countries would continue to strengthen people-to-people ties and open new avenues for long-term academic cooperation.
