Kristen Bell has come under fire online after sharing what many called an inappropriate anniversary post about her husband, Dax Shepard. The couple recently celebrated 12 years of marriage, but Bell’s choice of caption sparked widespread criticism across social media.

The actress marked the milestone with an Instagram photo of herself cuddling Shepard, writing, “Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivised to kill you, I never would’.”

Although intended as a playful nod to their shared sense of humour, many people found the caption unsettling. Some pointed out that Bell and Shepard are known for their candid, offbeat humour, but others argued that the joke was poorly timed and inappropriate for a public post. Another person said it was particularly insensitive to post such a message “to her 16 million followers, during Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, when a girl or woman is killed by a man known to them every 10 minutes.”
