Desert Vipers Win Their First ILT20 Crown

Nadeem Omar, owner of Quetta Gladiators the finalists of Pakistan Super League Season 10 and champions of 2019 has decided to field a team named Quetta Qavalry in the 2025 season of the T10 League, which is held every year at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Initially, Quetta Qavalry had included Zimbabwe T20 captain Sikandar Raza in their squad. However, after Afghanistan’s refusal to tour Pakistan and Zimbabwe’s agreement to participate in the event alongside Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Sikandar Raza will no longer be available for the T10 League.
Nevertheless, the squad selected by Quetta Qavalry can rightly be described as a strong and well-balanced combination.
In the team management, 43-year-old Test all-rounder Yasir Arafat has been appointed as the head coach. He represented Pakistan from 2000 to 2012, playing 3 Tests, 11 ODIs, and 13 T20Is. With vast experience of participating in leagues around the world, his appointment is being considered a significant decision in the context of Quetta Qavalry. Meanwhile, former Pakistan women’s team captain Javeria Khan, who represented Pakistan in 116 ODIs and 112 T20Is between 2008 and 2023, has joined Quetta Qavalry as the team director.
Quetta Qavalry will play their first match of the tournament against Northern Warriors on November 18, followed by their second match the next day against Ajman Titan. After a one-day break, they will face Deccan Gladiators on November 21.
Quetta Qavalry will play their fourth match against Delhi Bulls on November 22, then take on Aspin Stallions on November 23, and later meet Vista Riders on November 27.
In this single league format tournament, Quetta Qavalry will play their final group match against Royal Champs.
The Abu Dhabi T10 League qualifiers and eliminators will be played on November 29, while the second qualifier and the final will take place on November 30.
Debutants Quetta Qavalry have announced their 19-member squad for the upcoming ninth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League, scheduled to take place from November 18 to 30.The franchise recently confirmed six direct signings, featuring England’s Liam Livingstone, West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir, Zimbabwe and UAE captain Sikandar Raza, UAE batter Muhammad Waseem, USA's right-handed batter Andries Gous and South Africa’s veteran spinner Imran Tahir.From the West Indies, Evin Lewis, Fabian Allen and Gudakesh Motie were roped in, while the UAE trio of Ali Naseer, Khuzaima Bin Tanvir and Abdul Ghaffar joined the squad.Representing Pakistan, Abbas Afridi, Irfan Khan Niazi, wicketkeeper-batter Khawaja Nafay, Arafat Minhas and Umer Zeeshan Lohya were added, alongside England’s fast bowler George Scrimshaw.
Nadeem Omar, the owner of Quetta Qavalry , along with his son Hasan Omar as co-owner, shared his thoughts about the team. He said that they have a strong connection with cricket and feel joy in using their franchise’s platform to contribute to nurturing talent in Pakistan.
Regarding his son Hasan Omar, he stated that the purpose of bringing him forward as co-owner in Quetta Qavalry is to let him observe things closely and take responsibility himself. He believes that this will be a good start for Quetta Qavalry in this regard.
Co-owner Hasan Omar has welcomed his father’s guidance and the experience of Quetta Qavalry , describing it as very positive. He said that his father Nadeem Omar’s trust is admirable, and he will move forward with his advice and directions.
Regarding the team, Hasan Omar stated that it is a very balanced and strong squad. He added that their team has worked hard to make this selection and will progress effectively under the guidance of head coach Yasir Arafat and team director Javeria Khan.
