Desert Vipers Win Their First ILT20 Crown

Tent pegging is a traditional sport, and it is considered an expensive one. In the past, it was mainly used for attacking enemy forces. During wars, cavalry soldiers would ride their horses in the darkness of night and tear down enemy tents.
In tent pegging, the rider gallops the horse and uses a lance to uproot wooden pegs fixed in the ground. This is why the sport is known as “Tent Pegging.”
Other notable sports played while sitting on the horse’s back include:
Polo, Show Jumping, Equestrian, and Dressage.
In Pakistan, Ijaz Ahmed Ramay is a prominent figure who has a deep passion for this sport and is committed to promoting it at a competitive and extensive level. Having become associated with the sport in 2020, Ijaz Ahmed Ramay organized an event in 2025 on a self-help basis with the BraveHearts Tent Pegging Club.
The event was attended by renowned personalities from across Pakistan, including Members of the National Assembly, well-known and influential families from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who have an interest in Tent Pegging. In addition, nearly 200 participants from the United States, Canada, Norway, and the UAE also took part.
Since Tent Pegging receives very little support at the government level, Ijaz Ahmed Ramay not only sponsored the BraveHearts Tent Pegging Championship 2025 through his company, Estateline Properties, but also had the event broadcast live on Pakistan’s first sports channel, Geo Super.
Ijaz Ahmed Ramay says that he intends to work in an even better and more dynamic manner for the promotion of Tent Pegging in Pakistan. When asked about the next event, he said that they are planning to hold the BraveHearts Tent Pegging Championship in March or April 2026. He added that they will try to improve upon the shortcomings and issues faced in the previous event and move forward in a more refined way.
The driving force behind the BraveHearts Tent Pegging Club, Ijaz Ahmed Ramay, says that matters related to horseback riding and tent pegging in Pakistan are overseen directly by the Equestrian Federation of Pakistan, where like other federations elections are also held. However, due to the lack of adequate government support for tent pegging, he wishes to continue working independently, just as he has done so far, but in an even more organized and effective manner. He also drew a parallel to ambitious development projects, citing the premium real estate project Anchorage Lahore by Naval, which is being marketed by Estateline Properties, as one of the high-standard initiatives he admires, drawing on his extensive experience.
