There was never a disconnect between us: Shamoon Abbasi on his relationship with daughter Anzela Abbasi
- 14 Feb - 20 Feb, 2026
After more than three years of near-total silence, Shamoon Ismail has resurfaced, and very much on his own terms. On New Year’s Eve, the ‘Marijuana’ singer wiped his Instagram clean, deleting all previous posts and replacing them with a single photograph of himself and a message that read like a comeback announcement and a handwritten letter to fans.
Addressing concerns about his long disappearance, Ismail reassured his followers that he was “feeling great,” explaining, “I was in a transition.” For listeners who’ve followed his career, that transition hasn’t been entirely invisible. Last July, Ismail shared photographs that appeared to mark his marriage, along with a caption about stepping into a new chapter – both personally and musically. At the time, he spoke about change, growth and moving forward, offering one of the few glimpses into his life during an otherwise quiet period.
In his New Year’s note, he added, “I have always done this with utmost honesty and truest expression,” framing his public absence as part of that same commitment to sincerity. While he may have gone quiet online, Ismail said he’s been active behind the scenes.
