Sophie Turner, Kit Harington reunite in gothic horror 'The Dreadful'

Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, best known for playing Sansa Stark and Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, are reuniting onscreen as romantic leads in the new gothic horror film The Dreadful, and the recently released trailer teases a dark and intense story that pushes both actors far outside their comfort zones.

In The Dreadful, set in 15thcentury England against the backdrop of the Wars of the Roses, Turner plays Anne, a woman living on the fringes of society with her domineering motherinlaw, Morwen, portrayed by Marcia Gay Harden. When a man from Anne’s past, Jago, played by Harington, returns, his presence ignites a haunting chain of events involving violence, curses and emotional turmoil.

The trailer reveals an eerie atmosphere filled with foreboding forests, tense confrontations and the palpable chemistry between Turner and Harington as lovers rather than siblings, a shift Turner herself has acknowledged was an unusual and awkward transition as both the actors spent years playing on-screen siblings in Game of Thrones.

The Dreadful promises to be a haunting blend of period drama and horror, with Turner and Harington’s reunion offering both, longtime fans and genre lovers a strikingly different chapter in their shared onscreen legacy. The film is set to be released digitally and in theaters on February 20, 2026.
