Host Anoushey Ashraf has been a vocal advocate for the Palestinian cause for some time, which is why it’s no surprise she’s come out with strong condemnation of exiled Iranian prince and leadership hopeful, Reza Pahlavi, who promised an immediate restoration of relations between Iran and Israel if he takes power, in his latest statement.
Ashraf said “the people of Iran have the absolute right to self-determination,” but not in the name of “obvious mouthpieces for the greater agenda”. She lamented that Pahlavi didn’t even mention Palestine while “crying for the recognition [of] and strong ties with an apartheid state,” saying that it indicates his true leanings and intentions. She asserted that Iranians know better and should do with the prince “what they deem fit”.
Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s former shah, has been living in exile in the United States ever since his father was ousted in Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, which turned the country from an absolute monarchy to a theocracy.
