The year 2025 proved to be a breakthrough for the Pakistan Football Federation, when FIFA’s Normalization Committee came to an end and Mohsen Gilani was elected as the head of the Pakistan Football Federation. His name needs no introduction, both within Pakistan’s football circles and at the international level.

Mohsen Gilani brings with him an impressive global experience in football administration and social impact initiatives. Among his notable achievements is his association with the Danish club FC Midtjylland, where he not only played a key role in making Asian investment effective, but also contributed significantly to the club becoming league champions and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

As President of the Pakistan Football Federation, Mohsen Gilani appears to be constantly engaged in working for a stronger and brighter future for Pakistan football.

Recently, as a result of his efforts, the selection of the Pakistan women’s football team for the FIFA Football Series is being regarded as a significant step forward. Among the 198 teams in the FIFA women’s world rankings, Pakistan is currently ranked 154th. In this regard, Mohsen Gilani says:

“In fact, this is a historic and memorable decision in the history of Pakistan football. In the past, Pakistan’s football team was only able to reach the FIFA qualifying rounds. However, this will be the national team’s first-ever participation in a FIFA event. For this, I am extremely grateful to FIFA President Gianni Infantino.”

It is true that Pakistan football is currently facing countless challenges at both the domestic and international levels. In particular, building a strong team within the Pakistan Football Federation, promoting football at the domestic level, and working at the grassroots level require immense effort from Mohsen Gilani in his role as President. This is a serious reality, and as President, he also acknowledges it.

However, it is equally noteworthy that the work Mohsen Gilani has accomplished in a short period of time deserves high praise.

Major Achievements in First Six Months of PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani

• For the first time in the history of Pakistan, Pakistan National Team will play in a FIFA Tournament. Our women's national football team will play against teams from all over the world in FIFA series in Ivory Coast in 2026.

As President, Mohsen Gilani is working very effectively at the international level to improve the image of Pakistan football. However, the need of the hour is for him to now focus on domestic matters of Pakistan football, strive strongly for both senior and junior teams, and create a supportive environment for footballers, as well as for referees and coaches associated with the game in Pakistan.

He should also take concrete steps at the earliest regarding the Pakistan Football League. Mohsen Gilani is a multifaceted personality, but now Pakistan football and its footballers are looking towards him with great expectations.
