Margot Robbie turned heads at the world premiere of Wuthering Heights in Los Angeles, not just for her dramatic couture but also for the stunning piece of Hollywood history she chose as an accessory. The 35-year-old actress wore Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic Taj Mahal diamond necklace, a heart-shaped Cartier jewel valued at around $8 million that once belonged to the legendary screen star.
The necklace, known simply as the Taj Mahal diamond, carries centuries of romantic symbolism. Historians trace the table-cut heart diamond back to the Mughal era, where it was believed to have been gifted by Emperor Jahangir to his wife, Noor Jahan, with a Persian inscription that reads “Love is Everlasting.” Centuries later, French luxury house Cartier reset the gem on a gold and ruby chain, and in 1972 it became part of Elizabeth Taylor’s jewellery collection when her husband Richard Burton gifted it to her for her 40th birthday.
Fans and fashion observers reacted enthusiastically online, noting how meaningful the necklace was as a nod to historic love stories and cinematic romance.
