A video began doing the rounds few days back of Hania Aamir, dressed like a full-blown mayun bride – yellow ensemble, floral jewellery, the works – dancing with none other than Asim Azhar.

Ever since Azhar called off his engagement to Merub Ali – describing it as a mutual decision – the internet has been in a speculative mood. Rumours of an impending wedding the singer and the actress had been circulating for days, unconfirmed by either party. So what does Aamir do in response to escalating shaadi theories? She throws herself a fake wedding for her birthday.

In what might be one of the most on-brand moves of her career, Aamir leaned all the way in. Instead of issuing clarifications, she posted a short docu-style film on Instagram documenting her “wedding”. In it, she declares, “Everyone wanted me to get married so badly that I’m having a fake wedding!”parThe mini-film shows her many, many friends shopping for bridal trinkets, planning the festivities and hyping her up like it’s the real deal. Even she’s surprised by the enthusiasm. “These people have gone mad, what will they do when I actually get married?” she says in one clip.

The full wedding-themed birthday party was complete with décor, churiyan, bridal entry, bridal exit and yes – a dance with Azhar. There were dance numbers, chaotic energy, and even a fake rukhsati (sendoff).

While some said “She’s a known prankster.” many others were fully convinced that the nikkah announcement was seconds away. But for now, the only confirmed union is between Aamir and her sense of humour. She really said, “If you want shaadi content, I’ll give you shaadi content.”
