Hilary Duff has confirmed that her new song ‘We Don’t Talk’ addresses her current estrangement from her sister, Haylie Duff.
Speaking on CBS Mornings, the 38-year-old singer and actress said the track from her album ‘Luck... or something’ reflects what she described as a difficult period in her personal life. “It's definitely about my sister and just absolutely the most lonely part of my existence. It's not having my sister in my life at the moment, and I really struggled with thinking about including that on the record,” she told host Anthony Mason.
Duff said she ultimately decided to include the song because it represents her “truth”. “So many people are having this experience [of estrangement], and for me, making a record was just going to be all about connection,” she said.
Asked whether she hopes her sister will hear the track, Duff replied, “I don't think that that would help. I think I have to just exist as a person on my own and do what I want to do.”
