Peshawar Zalmi, one of the most popular teams in the Pakistan Super League, lifted the Season 11 (2026) trophy. The franchise, owned by Javed Afridi, reached the PSL final after four years, having last made it in 2021. Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, they won the title for the first time at Gaddafi Stadium.
Peshawar Zalmi, also known as the “Yellow Storm,” has attracted fans since the league began in 2016. This was their fifth PSL final. They previously won the championship in 2017 by defeating Quetta Gladiators under the leadership of Darren Sammy. After 2018, they also reached the finals in 2019 and 2021, but were unsuccessful on those occasions.
Peshawar Zalmi began their Pakistan Super League 2026 campaign with a 5 wicket victory against Rawalpindi. They started their journey by successfully chasing a challenging target of 215 runs.
However, their dream of remaining unbeaten in the league stage was shattered by Lahore Qalandars, while their match against Islamabad United was washed out due to rain.
Season 11 was outstanding for Peshawar Zalmi, especially for captain Babar Azam. The right-handed batter, associated with the franchise since 2022, was named the best batter of the tournament. He scored 588 runs at a strike rate of 145.90, including 2 centuries and 3 half-centuries.
Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis not only built strong partnerships with Babar Azam but also stood firm alongside the captain. He scored 550 runs at a strike rate of 168.19, including 1 century and 4 half-centuries.
In a one-sided final played at Gaddafi Stadium, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Hyderabad Kingsmen by 5 wickets.
Apart from captain Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis, wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris played a key role for the winning team with 206 runs. Michael Bracewell scored 190, Abdul Samad made 132, and Pakistan U-19 captain Farhan Yousaf contributed 128 runs, all playing important roles in the victory.
Australian all-rounder Aaron Hardie, who has played 15 ODIs and 16 T20Is, also made a significant impact. The Western Australia player delivered an outstanding performance for Peshawar Zalmi, taking 11 wickets and scoring 133 runs in 6 matches. He was also named Player of the Match in both the Qualifier and the Final.
For Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Sufyan Muqeem, who has played 4 ODIs and 19 T20Is, PSL 11 was an outstanding tournament. He claimed 22 wickets at an economy rate of 7.20, conceding 317 runs in 44 overs. He was awarded the Fazal Mahmood Cap as the best bowler of the PSL.
Among other bowlers for Peshawar Zalmi, Iftikhar Ahmed took 12 wickets, while Ali Raza and Mohammad Basit claimed 10 wickets each.
