Macaulay Culkin is opening up about the emotional impact of losing his longtime friend and former co-star, Catherine O'Hara.

In a new interview with Gentleman’s Journal, Culkin reflected on O’Hara’s death earlier this year and admitted he still feels there was more left unsaid between them. “When Catherine passed away in January, that hit me,” the actor said. “That hit me pretty good, ’cause, you know, it was just too soon. And I felt that we had unfinished business.”

Culkin added that he felt he “owed her a favour,” explaining that he does not like “having an outstanding debt.” O’Hara famously played Kate McCallister, the mother of Culkin’s Kevin McCallister, in the iconic Home Alone films. Their on-screen bond eventually turned into a real-life friendship that lasted decades after the movies became holiday classics.

Following O’Hara’s death in January, Culkin shared a heartbreaking tribute on social media, writing: “Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you but I had so much more to say. I love you. I’ll see you later.”
