Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani belongs to the Pakistan Administrative Service, which is considered the most elite and prestigious occupational cadre in the Civil Service of Pakistan. Since April 2024, Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani has been serving as the Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC). Since 2025, he has also been serving as the Ad-hoc President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). In addition, since May 2026, he has been holding the additional charge of Director General, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB). Holding a BS in Electrical Engineering from UET Lahore, an LLM from the University of Warwick, UK, and a Master’s in Development Studies, Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani is widely regarded as a highly capable and hardworking civil servant. Over the course of his 22-year career, his record in the public sector has been marked by significant achievements and extensive public service. He served as Chief Secretary, Gilgit-Baltistan (April 2022 – October 2023) and later as Special Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (December 2023 – April 2024). He has also served as Chief Operations Officer and Adviser to the CEO of the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF). As the Ad-hoc President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), Mohyuddin Wani has worked tirelessly and with great dedication over the past year. He mobilized former Olympians on the technical side of the game and, in line with his professional expertise, performed effectively at the administrative level. He also appears committed to fulfilling the task entrusted to him by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the revival and development of Pakistan’s national sport, hockey.

As Ad-hoc President, Wani believes that no task is too difficult. He considers accepting challenges and moving forward as an essential part of life. In reality, the affairs of Pakistan hockey were quite complex. Along with players’ issues, there was a long list of grievances from former Olympians. However, from day one, he remained focused on the job and made consistent efforts to put things in order and improve the overall situation.

As President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani says that he entrusted all technical matters of the sport to former Olympians Islahuddin Siddiqui and Hasan Sardar, a decision he considers both appropriate and effective. They have been overseeing the technical side of hockey and contributing to its development.

He further stated that the federation will soon move forward with a comprehensive domestic structure for both junior and senior hockey. Work on this initiative is progressing rapidly. Pakistan’s third-place finish at the Under-18 Asia Cup in Japan is, in his view, an encouraging start.

Wani also announced that a month-long Pakistan Under-21 training camp will begin in Islamabad in June 2026. He believes this program can serve as a strong backup system for the national hockey team and help strengthen the country’s future talent pipeline.

As President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani has taken a number of significant initiatives in a relatively short period to improve the national sport and address players’ concerns. During training camps, players have been provided with educational lectures on anti-doping awareness, helping them better understand the importance of compliance with international standards.

He has also dealt effectively with the long-standing financial challenges facing Pakistan hockey, and the overall situation now appears to be considerably improved. From organizing players’ camps to ensuring the timely provision of daily allowances, the recent measures taken by the PHF President have been widely viewed as commendable.

Pakistan hockey appears to be in need of professional administrators like Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani, whose experience, commitment, and administrative capabilities can contribute positively to the sport’s development and future progress.
