Lionel Richie has postponed the next two dates of his Sing a Song All Night Long tour after being hospitalised following a medical incident during the opening night of the North American trek. The singer has been advised by doctors to rest before returning to the stage.

The 77-year-old music legend was forced to cut short his concert at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota last month after telling fans he was feeling “dizzy” while performing his hit Dancing on the Ceiling. Richie completed one more song seated at the piano before leaving the stage for an unscheduled break. He ultimately did not return, and was later transported to hospital by ambulance.

Following the incident, Live Nation announced that Richie's concerts in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio have been postponed under medical advice. “Under advisement by doctors to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed his upcoming performances,” the promoter said in a statement, adding that rescheduled dates will be announced soon.

The statement also noted that Richie was “heartbroken” to disappoint fans but is looking forward to resuming the tour as soon as he has recovered.
