Load voltage woes, again
As Karachi gets its first sweltering taste of summer, the metropolitan is getting accustomed to the frequent load shedding in many areas. But more power woes await them. After prolonged hours of power cuts, many residents complain about persistent low voltage, followed by breakdowns of power transformers. This has led to the malfunctioning of home appliances and other electronic devices. As the frequency of these complains mount in number, K-Electric has stopped processing complaints in this regard, demonstrating an irresponsible attitude towards the situation. Citizens hope the problem will be tackled at the earliest without situation getting further deteriorated.

Forgetting our culture
Dramatic shifts in values, lifestyle and much more are very much part of our culture and has undergone many changes over decades; In an attempt to take on new trends, people have stripped off their cultural values. Despite the national language being Urdu, our masses are swamped with the influence of English, and feel embarrassed speaking Urdu. The tolerance level of society has succumbed. Our society needs to know the difference between good and bad change. It’s high time; we make a close examination of our cultural values and try retaining their essence.

Beware of the dupe!
Beauty markets at present are bolstered with dupes and low-quality fake copies of make-up products, with many consumers purchasing them knowingly or in a fluke. This is very alarming, because the make-up dupes and low-quality copies have very harmful ingredients in them, which can lead to dreary skin conditions, including skin cancer. Vendors should be banned from selling such make-up products and consumers should be made aware of the repercussions of using such chemical-laden commodities. Make-up brands should also control and restrict the sale of their fake products.

Combatting food wastage
People often stack up their plates with food they want to eat but cannot. This greed leads to a lot of food wastage that could possibly feed a few hungry mouths. What’s worse is that the food is left to rot or merely thrown in trash bins which renders it useless for others. It’s high time that we empathise with people who have to go without food for days and eat wisely, so as to pass on the leftovers or even portions of our meals to them.
