Bill Gates’ Daughter Faces Startup Controversy

Phoebe Gates, the 23-year-old daughter of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, is facing controversy surrounding her digital shopping startup. The company aims to help consumers discover products, compare deals and find discounts while shopping online.

The startup has reportedly come under scrutiny over allegations of “cookie stuffing,” a practice involving tracking cookies that can improperly claim credit for online purchases and generate affiliate commissions. Critics allege that some transactions may have been attributed to the company even when users were not directed to retailers through its platform.

The allegations have raised concerns about transparency and consumer protection in the growing digital commerce industry. If proven, such practices could potentially lead to legal consequences under US fraud and consumer-protection laws.

Reports also indicate that the startup’s average daily revenue fell sharply, from around $80,000 to between $10,000 and $28,000.

The company reportedly described the issue as a technical problem and disabled the feature after it was identified. It has also strengthened compliance measures and appointed legal expertise to address the allegations.
