Shafaat is the man with many voices, the mimic king of the current crop of stand-up comedians and also has a movie in his list of credentials. He started his career with the popular comedy show BNN, where he would impersonate celebrities and politicians as if it was no big deal. Long after he was already on television doing what he loved, Shafaat became an overnight internet sensation with possibly his most popular video where people enjoyed his various impersonations of popular figures in politics, and is now known as one of the most sought-after performers in the country.

What is your idea of a perfect life?

Happiness matters; don’t believe in a perfect life. No one is or can live a perfect life. Just staying happy is [the idea of a] perfect life.

It’s a Portuguese quote. “Tudo passa/ tudo sempre passara”, which means everything passes, everything will always pass.

How do you define peace?

It is a voice of sense in chaos. A voice that can make a difference; that voice or sound or act or lyrics or speech means peace to me.

What do you love the most about Pakistan?

Pakistan is a country with all the potential to be the best place on earth, yet it’s not. That’s exactly something which makes you worry and work for Pakistan, and fall in love with it.

What is the best part of your job?

I do stand-up comedy and it is all about making a difference, and it actually does!
