Meghan Markle supports Grenfell fire survivors through charity cookbook

Britain’s current favourite royal, Meghan Markle, knows how to woo the Brits. She has been involved in a now not-so-secret project for months, which is a cookbook for charity. The project kick-started after Markle’s many private visits to a communal kitchen in West London, where female survivors of the deadly Grenfell Tower fire would regularly gather to cook, grieve and rebuild their lives.

The book is titled, Together: Our Community Cookbook, which is a collection of recipes by some seriously strong and inspiring female cooks whose stories clearly struck a chord with the Duchess.

Since the beginning of 2018, Meghan had been privately visiting the kitchen and by all accounts the delicious homemade fare has both tickled Her Royal Highness' taste buds and warmed her heart.

The Royal Foundation’s website has also issued a statement on behalf of the Duchess of Sussex, which reads: “I immediately felt connected to this community kitchen; it is a place for women to laugh, grieve, cry and cook together.”

Markle has contributed the foreword to the book which will be available in bookstores from September 20, and already has foodies anticipating its contents. The best thing about the book is that all of its sales proceeds will help the community kitchen to function throughout the week and widen its reach to others in need.
