Foot in the mouth moment for Sadaf Kanwal

Sadaf Kanwal may be making strides in the entertainment industry but her recent comments on the #MeToo movement were a major step back. The supermodel made an appearance with Amna Ilyas on Tonite with HSY where the host brought up the topic of #MeToo movement, and Sadaf had some very problematic things to say about the matter.

"You know aap ke saath Metoo jab ho, tab boldo. Baad mai aap ko yaad araha hai Metoo. I think jab ho boldo. (You know, when you have a MeToo incident, say it then. Why are you remembering it later? I think when it happens you should say it.)"

She went on to say, "Agar mere saath MeToo kabhi hua tou mai bolungi na. Aur main social media pe nahi bolungi, main aap sab ko bataungi. (If I ever have a MeToo incident, I would say it. And I won't just say it on social media. I'd tell all of you.)"

Posh celebrates decade in fashion

Untested in the fashion world, Victoria Beckham launched her VB label in 2008 in New York, across the Atlantic from her native Britain. A decade on, she presented an exhibit at London Fashion Week for the first time this month, in a triumphant homecoming of sorts for a now widely-respected designer and entrepreneur. The ex-Spice Girls singer oversees an empire comprising four clothing lines, more than 400 retail outlets in over 50 countries and offices in London and New York. Seizing the opportunity to surpass her status as a pop star and football player David Beckham’s wife, she has gradually earned widespread recognition, even from fashion luminaries such as Karl Lagerfeld, the creative genius behind Chanel.

“It’s been an incredible journey, even when things can be challenging. I’ve had to learn incredibly quickly,” she told The Daily Telegraph. According to Business of Fashion, her company values the brand at approximately £100 million.

Daryaa from Manmarziyaan tugs at forlorn heart

While the Abhishek Bachan-starrer film, Manmarziyaan didn’t clear for its release in Pakistan, we can still appreciate its ensemble playlist if not the movie, itself. The film boasts a whopping 12 songs, out of which 10 are Punjabi songs dedicated to bringing forth the richness of the genre. It is easy to say the songs play along to a traditional folklore flavour.

For me one melodious track which stood out from the rest was Daryaa. Singers Ammy Virk and Shahid Mallya’s melodious vocal chords makes Daryaa a song which tingles something in every die-hard romantic’s heart. The rustic Punjabi ballad with its soulful, melodious lyrics (penned by Shellee) with some rather headstrong guitar riffs and thumping drums set the pace for the love song. Amit Trivedi’s composition of the number deserves a thumbs up! The musical video, too, effectively captures the complicacies of love-triangle among three leads, Abhishek, Vicky and Taapsee. The unplugged version of the song is out too, but we have to say the original fared better with us.
