60 Seconds With Usman Mazhar

Who knew that a guy who was once a mathematics teacher is now a full-time actor and comedian with quite an envious list of projects at hand? Usman Mazhar started his acting career alongside Mehwish Hayat and Gohar Rasheed in a critically acclaimed theatre play Bombay Dreams. He has also been associated with TV through serials like Terhi Meri Jodi, Kahan Tum Chale Gaye, Khan, Funkari, Nayyar Apa Ki Silai Machine and the currently on-air drama Ki Jaana Main Kaun. Usman has also been active in the stand-up comedy scene with several shows in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and Dubai to his credit and performs in collaboration with NAPA and Qaumi Coup locally.

What brings you the greatest joy?

Performing in front of a live audience. It also brings the greatest thrill, as well.

If you were a character from your favourite TV series, who would you be?

Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock.

Passionate, calm, explorer.

What is your ideal weekend like?

Spending quality time with family, close friends, perform at a show and ending it by watching a nice movie.

What is your favourite quote?

This is something my mom would tell me when I was a kid. “You'd only improve in life if you keep working on your weaknesses and get inspired by other people's strengths.”

Your idea of a perfect life?

Perfect life is where one has achieved their life's vision and yet look forward to the future.
