Will Deepika’s choice impact Meghna-Vishal relationship?

Deepika Padukone seems to have chosen Meghna Gulzar over Vishal Bhardwaj by agreeing to play the acid attack victim Laxmi as her next role.

Vishal was to direct Deepika in a true-life story of a female gangster named Sapna Didi. But the project stood “indefinitely postponed” as its leading man Irrfan fell seriously ill. Now, sources say, Sapna Didi has been shelved.

“It’s much too late for Sapna Didi now and Deepika has moved on. She finds Meghna’s script on acid victim Laxmi far more relevant and interesting,” says a source.

It remains to be seen how this role-swap affects Meghna and Bhardwaj’s relationship. While the former is the much-revered Gulzar’s biological daughter, the latter is like his son, and Vishal treats Meghna like his younger sister.

‘Criticism is the reason why I’m alive in the industry’

Music maestro AR Rahman believes the reason for his longevity and success in the music industry is the fact that he takes criticism in his stride. The 51-year-old Oscar-winning composer said even though reviews matter to him he does not let the negativity affect him.

“Sometimes it is good to take criticism. Some of it is venomous while some of it is beautiful, there is concerned criticism as well. And all this is one of the reason why I am alive today, otherwise I would have gone. You have to be open (to criticism).”

“Sometimes they are your teachers but some things are not good. Today because of Twitter and Facebook, everything is in your face, I don’t see it (comments) sometimes. We don’t have to creatively nudge ourselves, you have to be in your own zone and do your best,” Rahman said.
