Q: Hi! I am 33 years old and have been experiencing extreme acidic/gastric pains for the past five years. I was initially really worried about the sharp pains and mistook them for a cardiac issue, but my doctor diagnosed them as gastric, for they were often followed by horrible burps. Talha

A: Dear Talha, it looks like you are experiencing bloating which is causing the burps and other related issues, like heartburn. This could be due to indigestion or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). Consult your primary care doctor for a thorough check-up and avoid eating food items like cauliflower, cabbage, chocolates and dairy products. Do not opt for self-medication, I would strongly advise you visit your doctor.
