HOLLYWOOD IN 2019

It is easy to claim that 2018 was the year of smashes with releases like Black Panther and more. 2019 has us in eager anticipation with some big movies to hit the screens

Dark Phoenix

The X-Men franchise wants to make up to us with the fiasco of its last release and is set to come back, centered on Jean Grey, coming to life by Sophie Turner. Producer Simon Kinberg makes his directorial debut, while James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and the rest of the younger mutants come back as we want them to.


Toy Story 4

Our favourite toys are back and we don’t care how old we are for toys, the cinemas are going to be sold out to the 90’s kids. With a new member joining the gang and a road trip in the books, the storyline is enough to give us an adrenaline rush. Let’s see how big the world can get for a toy after all.


The Lion King

Director Jon Favreau proved to us how he can create magic with Disney adaptations with The Jungle Book and is now bringing to us, the most tear-inducing Disney flick of all time. If the excitement of revisiting childhood wasn’t enough, the star cast has the most-anticipated movie on a roll. Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, and James Earl Jones returning to the role of Mufasa — these are the ingredients to churn out a smash!


Once Upon a Time In Hollywood

At this point, we don’t even care what the story is because our jaws hit the floor when we saw the cast. Hollywood’s A-listers get together to share a screen and it is sure to hit the box office with a bang. Couple that with Tarantino’s direction and an epic storyline of an actor and a stunt double that mysterious ties with a murder and it is going to be the reel of the year.


Frozen 2

Starring: Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad

The much-loved family animated movie, and not just for kids, is coming back and hopefully with a song that is half as catchy as the signature “Let It Go.” Original directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, as well as original stars Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad, return to Arendelle to try to catch a second lightning storm in a bottle.


Aladdin

Disney comes back with a bang with the most loved street boy, the most adventurous princess, one hilarious genie and the best animal sidekick. Mena Massoud has been cast as Street Rat #1 Aladdin, with Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine. Will Smith is the Genie this time, with director Guy Ritchie making his family entertainment debut. And we can’t wait.


Captain Marvel

2018 was the year of Marvel and 2019 won’t be any different. No matter what mass destruction is in for Infinity War, Captain Marvel will clear some things up. Set in the 90’s, we shall be introduced to the world to Carol Danvers. No digging deep in spoilers, this Indie co-directed movie is all set to break records especially considering it is Marvel’s first female superhero movie.
