Entertainment Weekly shows the world the first look of the main cast of Disney’s upcoming highly anticipated live-action remake of Aladdin. The photos show the cast including Mena Massoud (Aladdin), Naomi Scott (Princess Jasmine) and Smith (Genie) dressed as their respective characters.

Although the film will follow the base story of the hit animation, the photos show some new characters, hinting that there will be an additional plot for the live action movie to set it a bit different from the animation.

Perhaps the biggest changes are that the genie is in human form and Jasmine has a new best friend in form of a human girl instead of her pet tiger Rajah.

Here are the first look photos showing Aladdin, Jasmine, Jaffar, Genie, Jasmine’s new friend, and Jaffar.

After the first look photos of the live action, Aladdin remake was released, fans of the animated movie were furious to see their beloved genie was not ‘blue’ and in his usual form.

This started a backlash on social media with enraged fans showing their disappointment directly to Disney and Will Smith who plays the character. The backlash and criticism were so intense that Smith had to respond to the fans directly.

In his Instagram, he confirmed that the Genie will be blue in the film. He said that the photos show his appearance when he is disguised as a human in the film.
