Kumail Nanjiani, the Pakistani-American stand-up comedian, actor and podcast host is coming with a romantic-comedy later this month. The rom-com is titled The Love Birds and Kumail has paired up with Issa Rae. Issa is a writer, executive producer and an actress famous for The Insecure Star.

The script of this upcoming rom-com was co-written by Aaron Abrams, Brendan Gall, and Martin Gero. The story seems quite interesting as the couple (Kumail and Issa) is about to break up, and suddenly they get involved in a murder investigation.

Michael Showalter, who directed the hit movie The Big Sick, will take the helm for the upcoming romantic comedy and murder mystery.

The rom-com will reunite the Pakistani-American stand-up comedian with The Big Sick director, Michael Showalter. It is co-produced by MRC. The full cast of The Love Birds includes, Kumail, Rami Malek, Octavia Spencer, Craig Robinson, John Cena, Marion Cotillard, and Carmen Ejogo.

Kumail Nanjiani said: “I thought, from watching TV and stuff, that America was one place. They only show you L.A. and New York. They don't warn you about Iowa.”

Nanjiani, has been working with HBO for a long time now and has already been nominated for an Oscar award for his amazing script in which he along with his wife, Emily V. Gordon, brought his real-life story to the big screen in The Big Sick. With Kumail and Issa's chemistry, this rom-com will surely be a masterpiece and we are pretty excited about it!
