Sindh Government launches strict drive to ban plastic bags

Much delayed, most awaited

Taking cues from the federal government’s announcement to initiate a campaign against the use of plastic bags, the Sindh government has followed suit with the initiative to ban plastic bags in the province.

“The use of plastic bags is disastrous for the environment. We request citizens to support the campaign and help the Sindh government save the environment,” said Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a video message shared on social media. He added that a law against plastic bags was already present in the province, which would be implemented in letter and spirit. The citizens have been requested to join hands and cooperate with the Sindh Government in the complete eradication of plastic bag menace, Industrisial complexes, factories, supermarkets and shops are also asked to strictly comply. Violators of the campaign would be dealt with according to the law after October 1 with strict and immediate action taken against sellers, manufacturers and users of plastic bags.
